Fresno is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Fresno is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

There was a small wait today, they said they were down people, little warmer inside but welllll worth the wait. I got the tri tip plate with mac & cheese and potato salad with an amazing sweet tea. The staff were all so kind despite having a rush. Hours are short here so definitely should plan ahead next time

Based on the reviews i think I came on a bad day but then again I'm from the south and the food hits different up there. I ordered fried catfish with collard greens and rice and gravy. Needless to say after walking back to my car and breaking a few pieces of the fish apart I was disappointed. The batter appeared to be a nice color and fried hard but the inside was slimy and utterly disgusting. They say three pieces but it actually appears to be 1 piece cut into 3. Fish 0/10 Collards greens fresh and not from the can but lack taste 5/10 Rice and gravy - 4/10 Wasted my money and the drive here from the other side of Fresno.

Came with my mom and sister for lunch. The fried chicken here is so incredibly good. We also had chessy grits, greens and Mac and cheese and everything was so good. My mom also had the ox tails. They were a little small but came with plenty and they were so tender!! I had a sweet tea and let me tell you that was some sweeeeeet tea. The flavor was great but I did have to dilute it. I will definitely be coming back!

The service was friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Unfortunately, the food quality did not meet expectations and ultimately outweighs the positive service. The mac & cheese was extremely watery, with a thin, milky consistency and lacked proper texture and flavor. The ribs and tri-tip were dry, which points to execution issues rather than personal preference. While the hot link was acceptable, it wasn’t enough to balance the overall meal. Despite the friendliness of the staff, I would not return. Food quality is the foundation of a restaurant, and this experience fell short.

I've been to Chef Paul's a handful of times now, and it's HANDS DOWN, the best soul food restaurant you'll find in Fresno! Their fried chicken is bomb!! Crispy and well seasoned on the outside but juicy inside! Fried okra and fried green tomatoes also are amazing to share with the table. The hot link is delicious as well, definitely get the after kick of spiciness, but doesn't overwhelm! And the chili beans have deep flavor to them! Servers and staff are super friendly and you can tell they enjoy working there. Chef Paul is usually hanging out and stops by tables to say hello. The restaurant itself is small but has larger tables. Which is needed when you order so much food! Would recommend Chef Paul's to anyone looking for some good old-fashioned soul food
